For me, it’s been a long and interesting trip – from publishing a small motorcycle magazine, to writing books for another publisher, to publishing my own books. And finally, to running a small publishing house.

ArtKulture grew out of my own fascination with painting, music and modern culture. For a long time we published airbrushing and pinstriping books, but they were all based on custom cars and radical Harleys, and the paint was often automotive, i.e. toxic and not user friendly for occasional painters interested in painting T shirts, canvas panels, or human bodies. So the latest ArtKulture books promote the use of mostly acrylic and water-based paints, and the items being painted include things like skate boards, jackets, and large canvasses.

In addition to painting, the ArtKulture imprint includes five tattoo books. The material covered in these books runs the gamut from photo sequences of tattoos being done (Advance Tattoo Art) to idea books (Tattoo, From Idea to Ink and Tattoo, Behind the Needle). Most recently we’ve added two high quality flash books (Tattoo Bible Book One and Book Two).

By the spring of 2011 we will have our second guitar title, as well as another tattoo book. So stay tuned to ArtKulture, where we bring you a unique, inside look at modern culture.
